According to Economic Vision, with regard to the wage bill, "its sustainability is more than ever one of the priority issues for rationalizing public spending for 2022". It also represents 38.5% of the country's tax revenue. Cameroon Business Today meanwhile refers to the deficit in Cameroon's trade balance, it is up 7.5% compared to the first half of 2020. An increase that the National Institute of Statistics (INS) explains by the increase in import expenditure (+ 15.4%) recorded over the same period. Export receipts, which increased by 21.5%, did not make it possible to compensate for this outflow of foreign currency. The volume of imports from Cameroon over the first six months of 2021 is 5.07 million tonnes representing a value of 1823.9 billion FCFA. This increase in import expenditure (+ 17.8% in quantity) results from the increase in value of imports of transport equipment (60%), pharmaceutical products (34%), machinery and mechanical or electrical devices (26 %), rice (21%) wheat (wheat) and metal (17%), indicates Cameroon Business Today.
