The optical fiber
The policy of developing the digital economy of the Head of State has improved the supply of these services. The numbers tell the story. Those from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications report that the submarine cables that power Cameroon have increased the Gbit (gigabit) offer from 0.155 in 2002 to 36.645 Gbit (gigabit) in 2016 for South Africa Transit 3 (SAT3); and from 12.3 Gbit (gigabits) in 2015 to 53.7 Gbit (gigabit) in 2017 on the West Africa Cable System (WACS). In 2017, the data transport infrastructure has reached 40 Gbit (gigabit) between Kribi and Lagos and 10 Gbit (Gigabit) between Lagos and Portugal on the cable of "Main One" and will be approximately 2.8 Tbit (Terabit) extensible at 32 Tbits (Terabit) from September 2018, according to Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) for the Cameroon-Brazil SAIL (South Atlantic Interlink) cable. Cameroon currently has a total linear of about 12,000KM of interurban optical fiber (compared to 2150 before 2012).
