Acceleration of the decentralization process for new opportunities for public-private partnerships in Cameroon
The acceleration of the decentralization process is a source of hope for Cameroonians and for businesses, all concerned with shared social progress. To achieve such an objective, the political authorities have moved the lines in several areas:
-
The creation of a Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development (MINDDEVEL) in March 2018;
-
The establishment of regions whose election of regional delegates is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2020 in all 10 regions of Cameroon;
-
The general decentralization grant, which was previously 10 billion CFA francs, has increased to 49.8 billion CFA francs, an envelope of 100 million CFA francs has also been allocated to each of the 360 municipalities in the country and 3, 3 billion CFA francs were transferred to 36 municipalities by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU);
-
Capacity building for municipal staff, a long-term work for the Decentralized Territorial Collectivities and MINDDEVEL;
-
The holding of municipal elections throughout the territory on February 9, 2020.
